The McGowan Government has moved to bolster long-term water security in Carnarvon by investing $1.6 million to upgrade local supply and storage infrastructure.
The project, which finished last month, saw new valves, pipes and monitoring equipment installed at two water tanks in Brown Range, adjacent to North West Coastal Highway.
Newly installed remote monitoring equipment will reduce the potential for local supply interruptions during extreme weather events, such as cyclones.
The project created 26 jobs during construction, including 10 for local residents employed through Carnarvon-based sub-contractors.
It was part of a $44.2 million capital works program delivered in the Mid-West by the Water Corporation during the 2019-20 financial year.
